Amaya Banks

JV Coach / Assistant Varsity

My name is Amaya Banks, I was born and raised in Eatonton Ga and graduated from Putnam County High School. My love and passion for volleyball developed when I was in the 10th grade.

I had heard about volleyball, but I wasn’t familiar with the game in any way shape or form. I then played volleyball for the remainder of my high school years and during that time I learned more about the game and developed my skills.

I graduated from Kennesaw State University in May 2022 and currently I’m a 7th grade science teacher at Putnam County Middle School. My expectations for this upcoming JV season for my players is to work hard and learn the game. I strongly believe that hard work is a key part to a person’s success, therefore I hope to cultivate and nurture an intrinsic motivation of hard work in my JV team. I also expect to develop my players skills and aid in developing their knowledge of the game.

My expectations for the entire PCHS’ Volleyball program is to have successful seasons from here on out and to produce hardworking, respectful, and responsible young women.

Rakeena Griffin

Varsity Head Coach / Program Coordinator

My name is Rakeena Griffin and I am native to Putnam County. I am a 2015 honor graduate from Putnam County High School and alumna from Kennesaw State University with a degree in Biology and minor in Spanish. I am currently a Spanish teacher at Putnam County High School!

When it comes to my experience with volleyball, I am honored to have been a part of the inaugural volleyball team at PCHS during my junior year of high school and I have had a love for the sport ever since! At that time, I was only familiar with backyard volleyball but having the opportunity to learn how to play fundamentally changed the way I saw and played the game! I have had a desire to help the program grow and succeed ever since I graduated high school so I’m super excited to be able to come back home and see it come to fruition.

My hopes for this upcoming season is that the girls will learn how to work together and communicate as a team along with having a successful season! For JV, my hope is that they find their competitiveness and work and strive for team wins not just individual wins! For Varsity, my expectations are that they will continue to grow their skills, lead their team and be an example of what a true varsity player is and show what it takes to be on varsity!
